Juma Sultan has been a potent contributor and sometimes instigator in some of underground music’s most important moments since the 1960s. Clutch in launching Jimi Hendrix onto the stage (and with him at Woodstock), a fixture in the 1970s loft jazz scene, and has collaborated with the likes of Albert Ayler, Pharoah Sanders, James “Blood” Ulmer. His band is packed with vibrant young bloods performing what they call world beat garage jazz.
