JUMA SULTAN ABORIGINAL MUSIC SOCIETY
Juma Sultan has been a potent contributor and sometimes instigator in some of underground music’s most important moments since the 1960s. Clutch in launching Jimi Hendrix onto the stage (and with him at Woodstock), a fixture in the 1970s loft jazz scene, and has collaborated with the likes of Albert Ayler, Pharoah Sanders, James “Blood” Ulmer. His band is packed with vibrant young bloods performing what they call world beat garage jazz.
Don Glori
Don Glori is an anagram for producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Gordon Li, whose sound traverses jazz, funk, soul, RnB, samba and beyond. Originally hailing from the creative crossroads that is Naarm (Melbourne, Australia), he is now based in London and is on tour supporting his Mr. Bongo album debut, “Paper Can’t Wrap Fire.”

With an unmistakable, freewheeling style, Los Cumpleaños mixes tropical rhythms and experimental sounds into an energetic, danceable, free-form musical experience. Citing influences as diverse as Colombian accordion legend Lisandro Meza, free jazziconoclast Sun Ra and genre-defying tastemakers like Flying Lotus and Tame Impala, Los Cumpleaños is a group that could only emerge from the cultural landscape of New York City.

Molly Tigre marries the rhythms and melodies of African music– especially the entrancing styles from Ethiopia and Mali- with a uniquely progressive and exploratory jazz sound. Crime jazz fans assemble! Big Lazy has flourished for over two decades in New York’s downtown music scene, playing their singular brand of noir and twang. Big Lazy founder Stephen Ulrich scored the HBO show Bored to Death and music for This American Life. Legendary “music critic Robert Christgau once called them The Big Apple Crème de la Crème."

Incredible young sax player Kevin Oliver, Jr.‘s debut album, “OLIVER,” offers an immersive journey through diverse musical traditions, reflecting the cultural roots of Atlanta and the rich heritage of American music. Adi meyerson & dark Matter
One of NYC’s most promising emerging bass players, Adi Meyerson has released two critically acclaimed albums and has played in international acclaimed festivals such as BRIC jazz fest, Guatemala Jazz festival, Center City Philadelphia Jazz fest, and has toured all over the US and central America. Dark Matter creates a sonically adventurous space for calm reflection on our immediate moment through the synthesis of lyricism and more abstract sound.

Echo Rhythm Band
Echo Rhythm Band layeth down deep, afro-funk grooves and melodies of vintage African diasporic music (think Fela Kuti, Orchestre Poly-Rhythmo and Salif Keita) in a wide-open context of improvising that takes listeners from dub ambience to ecstatic psychedelia. The quartet consists of Nikhil P. Yerawadekar (Antibalas, Hailu Mergia) on guitar, Matt Bauder (Father John Misty, Jovanotti) on tenor sax and keyboards, Ben Zwerin (Anjelique Kidjo, Lizz Wright) on bass, and Aaron Johnston (Brazilian Girls, David Byrne) on drums.
